WASHINGTON – The Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) is excited to announce its expanded educational offerings for 2025. This workforce development and certification group collaborates with growers, farmworkers, retailers, and consumer organizations to ensure a better future for the agricultural sector.

Last year marked the launch of EFI’s educational curriculum. It focused on vital issues like workplace inclusivity, effective communication, and sustainability. Over 500 people participated in the courses, including popular sessions such as the Fostering Respectful and Inclusive Workplaces seminar and the ECIP Introductory webinar.

This year, EFI is enhancing its offerings with new seminars and workshops tailored to the industry’s changing needs. According to Madelyn Edlin, EFI Product Marketing Manager, these programs will include “practical strategies to attract and retain skilled workers while aligning with the Ethical Charter on Responsible Labor Practices and improving sustainability initiatives.”

New topics will include popular discussions like Securing a Reliable Workforce: How to Attract and Retain Skilled Labor, which tackles the pressing issue of labor shortages. A new workshop called Leading With Impact: Supervisor Training will focus on developing leadership skills in agricultural supervisors. Additionally, a free sustainability mini-series is also available, focusing on responsible environmental practices.

Popular workshops will return, including Sustainability 101 and Facilitation 101 workshops, which will help participants build on their existing skills while exploring new insights for tackling current challenges.

Edlin noted the pressing challenges faced by the agricultural industry, from labor shortages to the increasing demand for sustainable practices. EFI is dedicated to providing essential knowledge and tools to help everyone in the it create equitable and efficient workplaces.

EFI’s online learning resources are crucial for inspiring innovation and teamwork within the fresh produce supply chain. By bringing together various stakeholders, EFI promotes respectful workplaces that foster long-term success in the agricultural community.
