Unlocking Global Opportunities: APEDA and Lulu Join Forces to Propel Indian Agri-Food Startups

New Delhi, Oct 3 (KNN) – The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) recently took the spotlight as the Export Partner at the 4th World Food India (WFI) 2025, held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

At the event, 142 exhibitors showcased the rich diversity of India’s agri-food sector. Visitors could explore GI-tagged products, Basmati rice, millets, organic produce, livestock items, and value-added foods. Special attractions included a GI Gallery and zones highlighting fresh produce and innovations from startups.

One of the major events was the Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM), which saw over 530 buyers from 68 countries, including major international retailers like Walmart and Choithram. This gather enabled 4,654 B2B meetings, providing grounds for Indian exporters and startups to build connections and expand their markets.

APEDA also signed a key agreement with LuLu Hypermarket to boost collaborations. This partnership will help Indian startups gain shelf space in 252 LuLu outlets in the GCC region. It opens doors for product sampling and consumer engagement campaigns, enhancing global distribution possibilities.

A significant highlight was the BHARTI Initiative, which focused on empowering agri-food startups. An interactive seminar titled ‘From Farm to Global Markets: Startup-Driven Innovation for Agri-Food Exports’ brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs. Discussions centered on strategies to scale up 100 agri-food ventures, integrating mentorship, branding, and technology.

According to recent data, India’s agri-food exports have been showing strong growth, contributing significantly to the economy. In 2022, the value of these exports reached $50 billion, a notable increase from previous years. Experts believe that expanding international partnerships is crucial for continued growth in this sector. APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev called the event a major step in showcasing India’s agri-food potential globally. He emphasized the importance of initiatives like the MoU with LuLu Hypermarket and the BHARTI Initiative in strengthening international ties and fostering innovation.

This year’s WFI not only highlighted India’s agricultural capabilities but also served as a reminder of the growing global demand for diverse food products. As consumer preferences shift towards organic and sustainable options, India’s agri-food sector is well-positioned to meet these challenges.
