The 14th Indian Restaurant Congress & Awards (IRC) took place on August 5–6, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This year’s theme, “A Global Outlook,” highlighted India’s rising star in the culinary world and the growing presence of international brands in the country.
Organized by Restaurant India and Franchise India, the event saw strong support from partners like Cremica, Indian Oil Corporation, and Trufrost & Butler, alongside organizations like Incredible India and the Indian Culinary Forum. Anil Chadha from ITC Hotels kicked off the conference.
Over the two days, speakers included notable chefs and industry leaders such as M. Mahadevan and Chef Vicky Ratnani, who discussed essential topics like AI in food presentation, sustainable sourcing, and the needs of modern diners. They emphasized the shift towards dining experiences that are fast, affordable, and innovative.
For the first time, the event also launched the print edition of Restaurant India, featuring prominent figures like Anjan Chatterjee and Kallol Banerjee on its cover.
A standout moment was the 14th Indian Restaurant Awards, held on August 5. With over 500 nominations, the awards recognized more than 80 brands across various categories, from Restaurant of the Year to Best QSR Concept. The gala celebration attracted more than 700 guests, providing winners with significant media exposure.
Currently, India’s foodservice sector is valued at $66 billion and is expected to nearly double by 2030. This growth reflects a wider trend in dining where consumers increasingly seek diverse and authentic food experiences. According to a recent survey by the National Restaurant Association, over 70% of diners prefer restaurants that focus on sustainability and fresh ingredients. As such, IRC plays a vital role in shaping the future of foodservice, fostering collaborations, and showcasing innovations that will define the industry.
