Unlocking Growth: Suzuki Motor Corporation Set to Invest ₹70,000 Crore in India Over the Next 5-6 Years

Suzuki has big plans for India. The company will invest over Rs 70,000 crore in the next five to six years. Toshihiro Suzuki, the company head, emphasized the commitment to support India’s goal of sustainable mobility and the vision for Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

Maruti Suzuki operates in Haryana and Gujarat. They’re ramping up production and aim to double their capacity to 4 million units by FY2030-31. This is a significant leap from their current output.

The Gujarat plant will soon be one of the world’s largest automobile hubs. With a production capacity of 1 million units, it will also be the launching pad for exporting their first electric vehicle (EV) to over 100 countries.

“We have chosen this facility to manufacture the e VITARA, our first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), making it a global production hub,” Suzuki stated. The vehicle will reach markets in Japan and Europe.

Another key milestone is the production of India’s first lithium-ion batteries at the Toshiba Denso Suzuki plant. These batteries, used in hybrid vehicles, will have most components sourced locally. This move aligns with India’s self-reliance goal, known as Atma-nirbhar Bharat.
