Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, recently attended the 28th Energy Technology Meet (ETM) 2025 in Hyderabad. He pointed out that innovation is key to achieving energy independence in India.
Puri highlighted India’s growing strength in clean energy technology. He stressed that the country isn’t just using clean energy but is actively inventing new methods. Innovations in areas like carbon capture, hydrogen production, biofuels, and advanced batteries are examples of home-grown solutions. These advancements aim to boost India’s refining sector and speed up the move to cleaner fuels.
The minister emphasized the importance of collaboration. He believes that bringing together Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), academic institutions, researchers, and startups can create a hub of low-carbon innovation. He stated, “We want every idea to move from the lab to real-world use.”
Puri encouraged industry leaders to engage with young innovators, sharing their real-life challenges. Platforms like India Energy Week and the Energy Technology Meet are excellent venues for this exchange of ideas.
He praised the creativity and determination of young entrepreneurs, saying, “Their confidence and curiosity give me great hope.” Puri reaffirmed the government’s dedication to Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and Viksit Bharat (developed India). Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he believes that the future of India’s energy sector will rely on local technologies and sustainable innovations.
Recent studies show that India’s clean energy sector is expected to grow significantly. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), investments in clean energy could reach over $20 billion annually in the coming years. This growth reflects a global shift towards sustainable energy, which many young innovators are contributing to.
In social media trends, hashtags like #EnergyInnovation and #CleanEnergyIndia have gained traction, showcasing the enthusiasm among youth for renewable energy solutions. It’s clear that the future looks bright for India’s energy landscape, driven by the combined efforts of innovators and industry leaders alike.
