Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to launch at the end of 2026 or early 2027. This phone will have a sleek, book-style design and will likely cost more than $2,000, as predicted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. According to his latest report, the foldable device will feature a “crease-free” inner display that measures about 7.8 inches. It will also have a 5.5-inch outer display, similar to earlier rumors.

Kuo mentions that the phone will be around 9 to 9.5 mm thick when closed and about 4.5 to 4.8 mm when open. It will sport a titanium alloy frame and a hinge made of both stainless steel and titanium alloy. The device will also include a dual-lens camera on the back and a front-facing camera, usable whether folded or unfolded.

Interestingly, the phone won’t use Face ID. Instead, it will have Touch ID built into the side button, freeing up space inside the device. Kuo emphasizes this phone will be AI-centric, with its larger displays enhancing multitasking features.

Given its high price, Kuo believes this foldable iPhone will attract Apple’s dedicated fans, who might see it as an essential gadget if it meets quality expectations.

Apple aims to finalize specifications by the second quarter of this year and start the project in the third quarter. Mass production is planned for late 2026, setting the stage for a possible launch in late 2026 or early 2027. There are whispers of a second-generation model following a year later.
