The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution is teaming up with the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) for the Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025. This major event will take place on October 30th and 31st, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. It’s set to be the largest gathering ever in the global rice export industry.
Over 5,000 farmers, 2,500 exporters and millers, 50 shipping lines, and around 1,000 international buyers from more than 80 countries are expected to attend. Representatives from various foreign governments will also be there, making it a significant meeting of key players in the rice sector.
Dr. Prem Garg, the National President of IREF, expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration, highlighting the government’s commitment to boosting India’s rice sector globally. The Department of Food and Public Distribution has pledged support for three essential initiatives tied to the conference: the main event, the launch of a Coffee Table Book celebrating Indian Rice, and a roadmap outlining the rice sector’s role in India’s future vision for 2047.
The conference promises to be a vibrant hub for bringing together everyone involved in rice production and trade. It will offer unique opportunities for networking, allowing attendees to connect with global buyers, explore new markets, and discover the latest agricultural technologies.
In today’s global rice market, the demand remains high. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), rice is a staple for over half the world’s population, with global production reaching 756 million tons in 2022. This growth emphasizes the importance of forums like BIRC 2025, which champions innovation and collaboration in this vital sector.
The upcoming conference stands not just as a gathering but as a crucial step in shaping the future of rice production and export. By fostering strong connections and sharing advancements, participants will contribute to a more resilient and sustainable agricultural landscape.
