The partnership builds on Deakin’s 30 years of commitment to India and ANZ’s 40 years in the Indian banking sector. It aims to develop a platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and educators to discuss global economic trends, innovation, and leadership. The focus areas include knowledge sharing, talent development, and creating connections between businesses and academic institutions in India and Australia.

During the launch, Paul Murphy, Consul-General in Mumbai, praised the collaboration, stating, “It is a wonderful ecosystem coming together at GIFT City. The exchange of ideas is world-class, forming the very fabric of our bilateral relations.”

Dipesh Shah, Executive Director at IFSCA, expressed his enthusiasm by saying this partnership marks an important step in harnessing India’s economic potential, particularly in developing human capital.

At the event, Ravneet Pahwa, Vice President of Global Engagement at Deakin University, emphasized the importance of this alliance, saying, “This collaboration is crucial for fostering business innovation and leadership in emerging technologies. We aim to create opportunities that lead to real-world impact by bridging the gap between academia and industry.”

The partnership includes a memorandum of understanding (MoU), which will facilitate student internships, executive training, and advisory programs, ensuring a fruitful exchange of skills and knowledge between India and Australia.

Mark Evans, ANZ’s Head of Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East, highlighted India’s importance to ANZ, noting that this collaboration reaffirmed their commitment to fostering talent and supporting the next generation of leaders.

To mark this partnership, a thought leadership event took place at GIFT City, focusing on India’s economic opportunities and the future role of this hub.
