At Warhawk Dining, we want campus dining to be part of a healthy student life. It’s not just about food; we’re here to offer resources that help students feel cared for and informed, especially during National Nutrition Month.
Eating well is crucial. Good nutrition helps students maintain steady energy, focus better, and feel good overall. These healthy habits are essential, especially as school life gets busier.
This month, we kicked off a series of events. We hosted a smoothie class at the Children’s Center and gave out free yogurt parfaits for Omega-3 Day at the University Center. We also organized a ramen noodle cooking class and a breakfast program in collaboration with University Health and Counseling Services. In support of our international community, we participated in the 44th Annual International Dinner, too.
My job involves leading these fun events, but I’m not alone. I have a fantastic team and support from a national network of campus dietitians. Programs like our Teaching Kitchens make nutrition easy and enjoyable.
A big part of my role is helping students build confidence in meal preparation and understanding their dietary needs. I provide free nutrition counseling year-round. I assist students with various requirements, from navigating food allergies to achieving athletic and academic nutrition goals. If you need help, you can reach me through [Warhawk Dining’s website](https://dineoncampus.com/uww/dietitian-request-form).
Working closely with our culinary team, I help create menus that blend familiar favorites with new choices. One of our priorities is offering options that cater to food allergies and gluten-related needs. We even maintain a station at Esker Dining Hall called Delicious Without, designed to avoid the top nine allergens.
Accurate dietary information is crucial, so we ensure it’s clearly displayed in our dining halls. You can also find this information on our [menu page](https://dineoncampus.com/uww/whats-on-the-menu/).
Beyond just meals, we support the Warhawk Pantry, a welcoming space for students to access food. Our sustainability program helps repurpose surplus food into nutritious ready-made meals, thanks to guidelines from our sustainability intern.
We’re always striving to improve based on student feedback. A satisfaction survey by the National Association of College & University Food Services is active until April 10, and we’ll also host in-person focus groups later this month. You can share your thoughts on [our feedback page](https://dineoncampus.com/uww/were-here-to-help).
These initiatives not only nourish students but also foster a sense of community. We aim to make everyone feel supported, not just during National Nutrition Month but every day of the year.
