Cyberpunk 2077 is making waves as the first game confirmed to use NVIDIA DLSS on the Nintendo Switch 2. Even though the existing footage doesn’t clearly show this feature, its impact could be significant for gameplay quality.

In a recent podcast episode, the tech team at Digital Foundry shared news from CD Projekt RED. They revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 on the Switch 2 utilizes a special version of NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) that’s designed for hardware backed by Tensor Cores. This impressive technology is said to work across all display modes: docked Quality and Performance, plus handheld Quality and Performance.
Upon reviewing high-quality footage, Digital Foundry tried to find signs of DLSS in action. However, the lower post-processing quality made it tricky to spot the usual visual enhancements provided by DLSS. They did uncover a few details upon closer inspection, indicating that the upscaler might indeed be at work.
CD Projekt RED also noted that while all modes aim for 1080p resolution, the handheld Performance mode targets 720p. Dynamic resolution scaling is in play, allowing images to adjust between 540p and 1080p for docked modes and 360p to 720p for handheld modes. This flexibility helps maintain a smoother gaming experience, even if it means sacrificing some graphical fidelity at times.
The launch date for Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2 is set for June 5th, aligning with the console’s debut in various regions. For those eager to experience the game, it is already available on platforms like PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
