The team had a successful weekend, winning matches against Florida International and Florida Atlantic. They currently hold the 34th spot in the ITA rankings, with the men’s team ranked 19th.
Looking at the photo, you can see palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze and the ocean sparkling in the sunlight. It’s a stark contrast for those dealing with a recent snowstorm at home. The storm brought heavy snow and strong winds, affecting many people across the Northeast.
Just last Saturday, I attended a men’s lacrosse game at Maryland on a beautiful day. The snow from earlier seemed to be melting away, revealing green grass. But just a few days later, the storm dumped even more snow, causing disruption. I hope everyone is safe and that you have power restored soon.
Classes were canceled due to the storm, a rare occurrence at Princeton. This highlights how unusual weather can disrupt campus life. Thankfully, the timing of the storm was manageable for athletes. If it had hit just a day earlier, it would have complicated events for many teams.
This past weekend was significant for other teams too. The baseball team opened its season against NC State, who is ranked 17th. Despite losing the first two games, they bounced back in the third, securing a thrilling 1-0 victory thanks to a home run from Isaac Lamson. Freshmen pitchers Brady Kaufman and Ryan Penney put in strong performances, showing promise for the season ahead.
Looking ahead, the Tigers will travel to face Duke next weekend, which will be another challenge.
On the ice, the men’s hockey team faced ups and downs. After a shootout loss to Colgate, they rebounded by defeating No. 10 Cornell 4-2. This victory keeps them in a solid fourth place in the ECAC standings, which is crucial for the playoffs. They will face Harvard and Dartmouth in their final regular-season games, with postseason hopes firmly in their sights.
