National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) is a special time to recognize the power of sports in the lives of girls and women. USTA Florida is excited to promote tennis for young girls through a variety of events in 2025 that aim to inspire and support their sporting journeys.
All-Girls Tennis Camps
USTA Florida’s All-Girls Tennis Camps have been a fantastic way to empower young athletes. These camps provide a fun-filled day where girls can play, learn, and connect with female leaders in tennis.
Currently, USTA Florida has three All-Girls Tennis Camps planned for the year, with more to come. These camps go beyond tennis skills. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, workshops, and motivational talks focusing on building self-confidence and teamwork. Experienced female coaches lead these sessions, serving as role models and showing girls the endless possibilities both on and off the court.
Girls Got Game Event
To kick off NGWSD, the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department held its fourth annual Girls Got Game event on February 1. This free event invited girls aged 6-17 to try out various sports like soccer, volleyball, flag football, netball, softball, and tennis. USTA Florida joined forces with local organizations like the Miami Dolphins and Miami Marlins to make this event a success.
Participants enjoyed hands-on instruction from local athletes and coaches while making new friends. The day also featured inspiring talks from women who have excelled in sports, including Olympic athletes and leaders in the sports industry. These speakers shared their experiences of overcoming challenges, achieving success, and the valuable lessons learned through sports, motivating the next generation of female athletes.
The Impact of Sports for Girls
National Girls and Women in Sports Day emphasizes the need for inclusive sports experiences for everyone. It’s a time to celebrate the achievements and potential of girls in sports, remembering the progress made and the journey ahead.
