Unlocking Potential: PM Narendra Modi Calls on States to Create World-Class Tourist Destinations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently called on Indian states to create at least one world-class tourist destination. Speaking at the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi, he emphasized that the recent G20 Summit spotlighted India as a global tourist hub, and now it’s time for states to seize this opportunity.

He suggested that around 25 to 30 such destinations can be established throughout India. The Prime Minister mentioned that this effort should not be just a party agenda, but a shared dream among over 1.4 billion Indians. He stressed that working together would lead to remarkable progress towards making India a developed nation by 2047.

In highlighting India’s growth, he noted that the country is now among the top five global economies, with 250 million people lifted out of poverty. To continue this transformation, he urged states to attract global investments, especially by making the most of recent trade deals with countries like the UAE, UK, and Australia.

The importance of education and skill development was another key point. Modi pointed out that with India’s young population, there’s a chance to become the world’s skill capital. He mentioned a significant initiative from the government, involving investment in training programs focused on emerging technologies like AI and 3D printing.

Modi also raised concerns about cybersecurity, framing it as both a challenge and an opportunity. He expressed enthusiasm for renewable energy, particularly hydrogen, as a sector ripe for development. He urged states to transform urban areas into centers of sustainability and growth, encouraging investments in smaller cities.

The Prime Minister highlighted the potential of women in India, suggesting legal reforms to help them enter the workforce more easily. He also pointed out the need to tackle water scarcity through river interlinking initiatives, praising Bihar’s Kosi-Mochi connection project.

In terms of agriculture, he called for a practical approach, connecting scientific research directly to farming practices. The “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” aims to engage around 2,500 scientists in rural areas to discuss and implement innovative farming techniques.

Moreover, Modi stressed the need to improve health services and expand telemedicine. The goal is to make essential healthcare accessible, especially in district hospitals, to prepare for any future health crises.

At the meeting, various leaders shared insights and suggestions for achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047, focusing on agriculture, education, governance, and women’s empowerment. The Prime Minister concluded by asking NITI Aayog to analyze these suggestions, marking the council meeting as pivotal in shaping India’s future.

As India moves forward, the collaboration of states appears crucial. With the right strategies in place, the country can ensure sustainable growth and uplift the living standards of millions.
