Anshul Kamboj Makes His Test Debut for India
Anshul Kamboj from Haryana recently became the 318th Test player for India. He received his Test cap from former wicket-keeper Deep Dasgupta before the fourth Test against England in Manchester.
Born in the year 2000, Kamboj is a right-handed fast bowler. Interestingly, he is the sixth player who shares a birthday on December 6 to represent India in Test cricket. The others include notable players like Rudra Pratap Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Karun Nair, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shreyas Iyer.
Kamboj’s journey through the domestic circuit reflects hard work and determination, much like legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev, who also hails from Haryana. Before being called up for the fourth Test, he displayed impressive skills in First Class cricket, boasting a 10-wicket haul.
The last Indian to debut in Manchester was Anil Kumble in 1990, creating a unique connection between the two players.
In the current series, India is trailing 1-2 after losing the first and third Tests but managed to win the second. They made three changes to their lineup for this match. Kamboj joined Sai Sudharsan and Shardul Thakur in the team, replacing Karun Nair, Akash Deep, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Notably, India has lost the toss in all four matches of the series so far.
As Kamboj steps onto the field, he carries the hopes of many fans, showcasing the new talent emerging in Indian cricket.
