The European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) plays a vital role in shifting to a climate-neutral energy system. It focuses on developing low-carbon technologies in an efficient and affordable manner. Launched in 2007 and reinforced by the energy union in 2015, the SET Plan is central to the energy union’s mission of fostering research, innovation, and competitiveness.
In October 2023, the Communication on the revision of the SET Plan was adopted. This revision aligns the original goals with key initiatives like the European Green Deal and the Net-Zero Industry Act. It focuses on a cohesive strategy to meet the EU’s decarbonisation targets, promoting essential net-zero energy technologies for a sustainable energy future.
Experts from the European Commission will offer insights on:
- The objectives of the SET Plan
- Implementation Working Groups (IWGs) and European Technology and Innovation Platforms (ETIPs)
- The framework for cross-cutting tasks, especially Access to Market
- Updates on the SET Plan revision
- Funding options for SET Plan technologies
