Unlocking the Impact: How Atomic Measures Drive Sustainable Change for Our Climate and Environment

Atomic has just unveiled its 2025 Impact Statement, the third annual report detailing its climate strategy and sustainability efforts. This report highlights how the brand is actively working to minimize its environmental footprint while striving to meet its Science Based Targets. Notably, Atomic aims for a 60% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 25% cut in Scope 3 emissions by 2030.

A key theme in the report is the commitment to transparency and improvement. This principle guides Atomic’s journey and its influence on sustainable practices across the winter sports industry.

Here are some of the significant achievements reported for 2025:

  • 90% Reduction in Scope 2 Emissions: Atomic has made impressive strides by running its Bulgarian production site on 100% renewable electricity. This major shift brings them closer to their decarbonization goals.

  • Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs): Atomic has completed LCAs for all product lines, gaining better insights into material impacts. This allowed them to cut CO₂-equivalent emissions by eliminating high-impact materials. For instance, the new Maverick skis have achieved a 24% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Industry Leadership: Atomic is taking the lead in the Ski Industry Climate Summit, a platform created for climate collaboration in 2023. They are also actively supporting Protect Our Winters Europe, working to extend their positive influence beyond their operations.

Wolfgang Mayrhofer, Atomic’s President, expressed the urgency of the situation: “As skiers dedicated to the mountains, we feel the changes every season. Warmer winters and shifting snow patterns are stark reminders of the climate crisis. Our mission remains clear: reduce emissions, stay transparent, and create high-performance gear with a smaller footprint. There’s still a long road ahead, but I am proud of the dedication shown by our teams, athletes, and partners.”

New Insights

In recent years, climate change has accelerated, impacting winter sports significantly. According to a study from the International Ski Federation, 50% of ski resorts worldwide are facing climate-related challenges. This adds urgency to Atomic’s initiatives.

Additionally, surveys show that 70% of consumers now prioritize sustainability when choosing products, making brands like Atomic that embrace these values more appealing. As the conversation around climate change grows, the role of brands in leading sustainable practices becomes ever more critical.

By focusing on continuous improvement and collaboration, Atomic is set to be a role model for others in the industry.
