In Baldur’s Gate 3, fighting against the Absolute is tough. Survival depends on smart strategies, strong abilities, and, most importantly, having enough health. The more hit points (HP) a character has, the better their chances of staying alive in battles.

Regardless of your character’s class or style, maximizing health is key. There are items, spells, and choices that can boost HP significantly. So, how do you reach the maximum hit points in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Maximizing Health in Baldur’s Gate 3

To achieve the highest health, start with your character’s choices during creation. The Barbarian class offers the best HP gains: starting with 12 HP at level one and 7 per additional level. Next, choose the gold dwarf race for an extra HP at each level. Finally, select the Tough feat later on to gain two extra HP per level.

Two important spells to consider are ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==Heroes’ Feast and a sixth-level Aid spell. Moreover, it’s vital to have a high constitution score, as this directly influences HP. You can enhance this through ability score improvements up to 20, or even 23 with a special item called the ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==Amulet of Greater Health.

Obtaining the Amulet of Greater Health

The Amulet of Greater Health can be found in the House of Hope, a devil’s manor that becomes accessible in the third act. It’s located on a pedestal in the archives and requires sneaky skills to retrieve while avoiding traps. Setting your constitution to 23 with this amulet gives you an additional six HP per level. By combining all of these elements, a level 12 gold dwarf barbarian could reach an impressive total of 222 hit points.

Keep in mind that if you’re playing in explorer mode, your base HP doubles, potentially bringing the maximum closer to 400. Additionally, temporary HP sources, like the Tharchiate Vigour enchantment or Armor of Agathys, can further increase your survivability. However, it’s essential to remember that even a character with high HP can still fall to powerful attacks in Baldur’s Gate 3.
