Union Minister Anupriya Patel recently emphasized that achieving the goal of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) requires involvement from the public. During the opening session of the two-day Kashi Samvaad event, held in collaboration with Banaras Hindu University and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), she noted, “Big dreams need people to participate. Our governance is built on this idea.”
UP Minister Asim Arun shared insights on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), saying it’s an obligation, not just charity. He believes true effectiveness comes when these initiatives lead to impactful ideas that can scale nationally.
BHU Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi highlighted the role of educational institutions as vital to economic and social growth. He stated that India’s progress must also be equitable. The Kashi Samvaad is designed to foster discussions that will lead to actionable recommendations for inclusive growth.
The event also focused on the youth, with Chief Advisor to the UP Chief Minister, Awanish Awasthi, stressing that the nation’s future depends on them. Their skills and determination are crucial as India aims for its 2047 vision.
In terms of CSR, B. Thiagarajan, Chairman of the CII National Committee on CSR, mentioned that spending on CSR initiatives in India is expected to reach ₹1 lakh crore by 2030. However, he emphasized that these funds should target underserved communities to ensure fairness.
Dr. Upasana Arora, Chairperson of CII Uttar Pradesh, expressed confidence that Kashi Samvaad could guide the country’s future development. Umang Sah, CII Chairman for Varanasi, echoed this sentiment, calling for a review of how CSR contributes to society today.
The event serves as a reminder of the impact of collective action. As public participation rises, it could significantly shape the future of India, making its development goals more reachable.
