Unlocking Wellness: How Behavioral Health’s MAC Team Supports Mental Health and Substance Abuse Recovery

In Grand Junction, Colorado, the Mesa County Behavioral Health’s Multi-Agency Collaboration (MAC) team is making a difference. This initiative focuses on helping individuals facing mental health challenges or substance abuse issues.

Lisa Rickerd Mills, the Director of Mesa County Behavioral Health, explains the MAC team’s mission: “Our goal is to build relationships. Once we establish trust, we can guide clients on their next steps and how we can support them.”

The MAC team includes four key organizations:

  • Amos Counseling
  • Foundations 4 Life, LLC
  • Shift Counseling
  • Mind Springs Health

As this collaboration expands, Mills emphasizes their commitment to helping others. “The team is made up of people who go above and beyond. They genuinely care and want to assist those in need,” she shares.

Since the start of their efforts, over 670 referrals have come in from various sources, including hospitals and law enforcement. Mills constantly looks for new partners to join the MAC team to enhance their support system.
