UNLV Women’s Golf Team Triumphs at Mountain West Championship
The UNLV women’s golf team made history by winning the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. This victory is significant as it marks the program’s eighth league championship and the fifth under the leadership of head coach Amy Bush-Herzer.
In a nail-biting finish, the Rebels faced off against San Jose State in a playoff after both teams finished tied at 18-over. The turning point came on the second playoff hole when senior McKenzi Hall nailed a remarkable 40-foot birdie putt, while seniors Mayumi Umezu and Toa Yokoyama each secured crucial pars to clinch the win.
The Rebels started the final round two shots behind. They made a strong comeback, achieving a team score of 8-over 296. Notably, Foong led the team with a 2-under 70, helping keep the Rebels in contention.
