UNLV Rebels Wrap Up Inspiring Season at NCAA West Regional – Highlights and Insights!

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The UNLV cross country team placed 39th at the NCAA West Regional, held at Haggin Oaks Golf Course. This year’s strong competition showed just how tough the field was.

Angelina Vasquez led the Rebels with a time of 23:30.7, closely followed by Reagan Reed at 23:37.3. Claire Rands (23:49.3), Alana Sangprasit (24:25.8), Aine McDade (25:02.2), and Autumn Viscardo (26:25.0) rounded out the team in the 6K race.

Stanford and Oregon took the top two spots and will compete in the NCAA Championships in Columbia, Missouri, on November 22. Stanford had an impressive showing with two runners in the top five and four in the top eighteen. Oregon’s depth was showcased as well, with their runners finishing second and third, having four within the top twenty.

In individual standings, Washington State’s Rosemary Longisa claimed victory with a time of 19:08.3. She was followed by Oregon’s Diana Cherotich and Silan Ayyildiz, finishing at 19:12.6 and 19:16.8, respectively.

This year’s regional highlights the increasing competitiveness in college cross country. According to a recent NCAA report, participation in cross country has risen by over 15% in the last decade.
