Unmissable On-Air Film Review: Dive into the Enigmatic World of ‘Mickey 17’ – Why You’ll Be Captivated!

CHICAGO – On March 6, 2025, Patrick McDonald from HollywoodChicago.com joined Ben Thompson on “The Morning Mess” at WBGR-FM in Monroe, Wisconsin. They talked about “Mickey 17,” a new sci-fi movie directed by Bong Joon Ho, who is known for the Oscar-winning film “Parasite.” The movie hits theaters on March 7.

In “Mickey 17,” Robert Pattinson plays Mickey Barnes, a man struggling with overwhelming debt. To escape his problems, he signs up to be an expendable—basically a clone meant for dangerous experiments on a mission to a planet called Nilfheim. Mickey is the 17th version of himself, created to be killed and then brought back in a lab for more testing. During a mission on a frigid part of Nilfheim, he’s abandoned and presumed dead. However, he gets help from strange, armadillo-like creatures living there.

The leaders back on Earth, played by Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette, hope to exploit Nilfheim for their gain. This puts Mickey in a tough spot because he soon discovers there’s already a Mickey 18, another clone who complicates his situation.

“Mickey 17” includes a talented cast featuring Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. The film is rated “R” and promises to deliver a mix of action and thought-provoking themes.
