This news followed Salke’s exit from her role after seven years at Amazon, a departure linked to ongoing power struggles within the company. Speculation had been rife about her position, especially after Amazon’s recent moves with the Bond franchise, which hinted that changes were on the horizon.

Since Amazon bought MGM for $8.5 billion in 2022, Salke and Barbara Broccoli, the franchise’s longtime producer, had different visions for Bond’s future. Reports indicate that Broccoli found it hard to connect with Salke on the direction of the iconic character. Tensions escalated when the Wall Street Journal highlighted a standstill in the Bond franchise, signaling a disconnect in Salke’s creative approach.

Sources reveal that Salke wanted to reshape 007 into a character appealing to a broader audience, potentially featuring him in TV shows and video games. However, Broccoli reportedly resisted such ideas, preferring to keep Bond grounded in his traditional persona. The change in control over the Bond IP signified a power shift that Salke’s departure seemingly solidified.

However, her approval power over projects waned, particularly before high-stakes initiatives like Bond.
