Unpacking the Epic Ending and End Credits of ‘Superman’: What Every Fan Should Know!

It’s hard not to jump ahead now that Superman is lighting up theaters. After years of anticipation about James Gunn’s vision for this rebooted DC Universe, we finally get a glimpse of what’s next. Unlike many superhero films that save big reveals for end credits, Gunn lays some surprises right in the film, using the credits for a different purpose.

A standout moment hints at future DC adventures. At the Fortress of Solitude, Superman encounters his cousin Supergirl, played by Milly Alcock, who’s had a bit too much fun on planets with red suns. Unlike yellow suns, those don’t protect Kryptonians from alcohol. We also discover that Krypto is her playful dog. This playful scene almost serves as a sneak peek for the upcoming Supergirl movie and shows that both heroes are in tune with a larger universe.

Next, we see two credit scenes that add depth. The first features Superman and Krypto on the moon, gazing back at Earth. It’s a touching moment, offering a sense of security for viewers, suggesting that Earth is safe in Superman’s hands. Yet it raises questions. Did Krypto just go back to Supergirl? This scene may have been more about savoring the characters than tying up loose ends.

The second scene brings us back to Metropolis soon after the chaos caused by Lex Luthor, who opens a dimensional rift that wreaks havoc. Superman, with Mr. Terrific’s help, begins to mend the city. However, he notices that the repair isn’t quite right. This could hint at future interdimensional plotlines, but it largely emphasizes the growing bond between Superman and Terrific—showing us that Superman won’t navigate his challenges alone.
