The Game Awards are just around the corner, and excitement is building! Host Geoff Keighley is teasing something big, leading many to speculate about what’s coming. Is it Diablo? God of War? The Elder Scrolls 6? Or perhaps Lords of the Fallen 2?
On November 28, Keighley posted “regal.inspiring.thickness” with an intriguing image of a large carving in a desert. The next day, he shared a Google Maps link pinpointing the location of this mysterious monolith in California. Fans quickly flocked to the site and shared their finds on social media.
Things got even more puzzling on December 5, when Keighley released another cryptic message: “The █████ are silent. █████ bleeds. New █████ stir.”
Reports suggest that this might link to an upcoming Diablo 4 expansion set to be announced in 2026. The eerie visuals align with the game’s theme, piquing interest. However, not everyone agrees. Reporter Jason Schreier cast doubt on the Diablo connection, claiming he has no idea where that theory originated.
Some believe the monolith ties to the next God of War game, but even that theory is shaky, according to veteran developer Cory Barlog. Others speculate about The Elder Scrolls 6, but Schreier dismissed this idea as well. He humorously suggested that fans should ask him nicely for details over drinks at an event.
Interestingly, the monolith has also sparked theories about The Elder Scrolls Online. A crocodile-like figure in the imagery might reference creatures from the game’s lore, like the Daedroth. The location hints at the Alik’r Desert, further tying it to that universe. However, the CEO of CI Games confirmed that the monolith isn’t related to Lords of the Fallen 2, despite many fans believing otherwise.
Even the game publisher Devolver couldn’t resist the fun. They jokingly claimed the statue was actually for their upcoming game, Skate Story, adding some levity to the conversation.
The Game Awards will take place on December 11, and fans are eager for news and surprises. As anticipation builds, the mystery of the monolith might just set the stage for some thrilling game announcements.
