Australia has recently crowned its favorite chocolates, and the results are in! A survey from Canstar gathered opinions from thousands of chocolate lovers, diving deep into their favorites across bars, blocks, and boxes.
Whittaker’s took home the award for the best chocolate block, marking its third consecutive win. Cadbury Roses also secured its place as the top chocolate box for the second time. Surprisingly, Turkish Delight emerged as the best chocolate bar, although it has always sparked mixed feelings among fans.
Chocolate isn’t just a treat for many Australians. In fact, one in ten people indulges in it daily. About 30% believe that chocolate can make any day better, and another 30% always keep a stash at home. Interestingly, some even hide their chocolate from family or roommates!
Milk chocolate remains the clear favorite, with 62% of Australians preferring it over dark (30%) and white chocolate (8%). Despite this love, recent rising cocoa prices have changed shopping habits. Around 70% of consumers are buying chocolate less frequently. Eden Radford from Canstar noted that shoppers are becoming more conscious, adjusting their buying strategies while still enjoying their favorite treats.
For those curious about prices, Whittaker’s distinctive gold-wrapped blocks come in various flavors, priced around $9 for 200-250 grams. Cadbury Roses are available in boxes ranging from $10 to $20.
In this competitive market, other bars like Cherry Ripe and Boost also performed well, but none could quite reach the heights of Turkish Delight’s five-star ratings.
Ultimately, chocolate is still a beloved part of Australian life, but changing prices mean people are thinking more about their purchases. As Radford puts it, Australians are learning to be clever shoppers at the supermarket, ensuring they get the flavors they cherish while navigating the new landscape of chocolate prices.
