Asus has reimagined its dual-screen gaming laptop with the new ROG Zephyrus Duo, revealing it at CES 2026. This refreshed model features two impressive 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreens, a significant upgrade from past versions that included a smaller second display, the “ScreenPad Plus.” Users previously enjoyed the convenience of checking messages or streams while gaming, but many found the keyboard layout awkward.
The revamped design addresses those concerns. The new ROG Zephyrus Duo gives you a full-sized second display, creating 213% more screen space. It also includes a larger detachable keyboard centered with a touchpad below, making it more user-friendly.
The innovative hinge now allows for five unique modes:
- Dual-Screen Mode: Both displays stacked.
- Laptop Mode: The second screen connects to the keyboard for charging.
- Sharing Mode: Displays laid flat for collaboration.
- Book Mode: Displays propped up side by side.
- Tent Mode: Displays folded in for joint usage.
These features put the ROG Zephyrus Duo on par with Asus’s ZenBook Duo, which is designed for everyday use. However, the ZenBook restricts display rotation to 180 degrees, lacking Tent Mode.
Under the hood, the ROG Zephyrus Duo boasts a powerful Intel Core Ultra chip, coupled with Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics. Users can opt for up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. Both screens offer a vibrant 3K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, reaching up to 1,100 nits for clear visibility, even in bright conditions.
Keeping the device cool during intense gaming sessions is key. Asus uses a vapor chamber along with liquid metal and dual fans, plus a graphite sheet beneath the secondary display.
The design is sleek, featuring an aluminum chassis in a new Stellar Gray finish, complete with an RGB LED strip for flair. The laptop also packs six Dolby Atmos speakers and a variety of ports for connectivity, including Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI.
While it measures 0.77 inches thick and weighs 6.28 pounds—hefty for a gaming laptop—its performance could outweigh this drawback. The previous model started at $3,499.99, and given the rising hardware costs, potential buyers should anticipate a premium price.
In today’s tech landscape, the dual-screen setup is gaining traction. A recent survey found that 59% of gamers appreciate multi-monitor setups for their efficiency and enhanced gaming experience. With this evolution in design and functionality, the ROG Zephyrus Duo aims to meet that demand with style and performance.
