New Delhi, December 25 (ANI) — Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan recently launched ‘Mahamana Vangmay,’ a collection of writings by Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya. This event took place at Bharat Mandapam.
Radhakrishnan praised Malaviya as a significant figure in India’s history—a nationalist, journalist, lawyer, and educationist. He highlighted Malaviya’s belief that India could grow by reconnecting with its ancient roots. This blend of tradition and modernity, he said, was key to India’s progress.
The Vice President pointed out that Malaviya was a strong advocate for scientific and technological education. He believed that integrating modern learning with Indian culture was essential. He described ‘Mahamana Vangmay’ as not just a compilation of works but as a vital part of India’s freedom struggle and a guide for its future cultural revival.
Radhakrishnan noted Malaviya’s vision for education during British colonial rule, emphasizing its role in sparking national pride. He mentioned that the establishment of Banaras Hindu University demonstrates Malaviya’s idea that modern education must harmonize with Indian traditions.
The Vice President drew parallels between Malaviya’s vision and current initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the Make in India campaign. These programs aim to foster a self-reliant India, echoing Malaviya’s commitment to an enlightened society.
He also remarked that Malaviya’s focus on inclusive, value-based educational practices aligns with the National Education Policy 2020. The second installment of ‘Mahamana Vangmay’ features 12 volumes, totaling around 3,500 pages, and showcases Malaviya’s extensive contributions.
Radhakrishnan encouraged universities and researchers to engage with these writings. He believes they offer insights that could address present-day challenges.
Reflecting on Malaviya’s legacy provides a lens through which we can understand ongoing discussions about education and national identity in India today. As society evolves, the call for an education system that respects cultural history while embracing modern principles remains crucial.
