Fashion, heritage, and innovation took center stage at Times Lifestyle Week 2026, held at Grand Hyatt in Gurgaon. Designers showcased a blend of tradition and modernity, featuring everything from handloom saris to cutting-edge menswear. This event, powered by the Indian Institute of Fashion & Design (IIFD) and Volvo Car India, aimed to highlight the rich tapestry of Indian fashion.
Designer Deepthi Reddy introduced her collection “Kashi,” emphasizing the artistry of handloom and Banarasi weaves. Models showcased these pieces barefoot, symbolizing respect for the material. Deepthi noted, “When we buy a sari, we first offer it to the goddess. It’s about honoring the fabric.”
The Chitkara Grad Show 2026 highlighted emerging talents, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern trends. Prof. Dr. Vaibbhavi Pruthviraj Ranavaade from Chitkara University remarked, “It’s always a pleasure to partner with Times Lifestyle Fashion Week to showcase our graduates.”
Notably, Aaliya Deeba’s bridal collection drew inspiration from Nizami traditions, celebrating modest fashion with modern silhouettes and soft colors. “I focus on styles that resonate with the global woman,” she shared.
Sustainability was a key theme. Designer Shivali Sahay crafted pieces from technological waste, like motherboard pieces and circuit boards. This innovative approach not only promotes sustainability but also weaves technology into fashion seamlessly. “I wanted to combine nature with technology in a beautiful way,” she explained. Richa Mehta, a showstopper for Shivali, praised the comfort of the pieces, saying, “It’s something I would love to wear every day.”
Sonam Bajwa graced the runway for M&S, emphasizing her long-standing relationship with the brand. “I love their stylish yet quality-driven designs.” This year’s summer collection featured lightweight fabrics perfect for the warm months.
Rajdeep Ranawat’s vibrant, nature-inspired collection had actor Rajeev Khandelwal as the showstopper. He used this platform to raise awareness about ovarian cancer through his association with Sashakt Foundation, sharing, “I’m passionate about supporting women’s health.”
Rachit Khanna’s “Gilded Dreams” collection was a celebration of festive glamour with gold accents and intricate beadwork. He aimed to modernize traditional Indian festive wear, and showstopper Karanveer Mehra felt the collection’s confidence.
This fashion week not only showcased diverse styles but also highlighted the importance of sustainability, collaboration, and cultural heritage in contemporary fashion. It’s a reminder that fashion is not just about clothing; it’s about stories, respect, and innovation.
