Cheerio and Farewell: Claudia Oshry Exits “The Masked Singer”
On January 28, “The Masked Singer” celebrated “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night.” The show saw comedian Claudia Oshry, better known as Queen Corgi, bow out of the competition. She performed Sia’s “Unstoppable” before stepping down to focus on her family.
Claudia, a new mother, shared that juggling her role on the show and motherhood was tough. She had moved her family for the show and found it hard to be away from her four-month-old baby. “I was having so much fun, but I was torn between the show and my baby,” she explained in an interview with Variety. Ultimately, she felt her time on the show had fulfilled a dream.
Her exit was no regular elimination. The panelists—Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora—were left guessing and surprised by her decision. Before her exit, the panel had guessed celebrities like Amy Schumer and Ali Wong as possible identities behind Queen Corgi.
Claudia communicated her decision to the producers, but the panel was kept in the dark. She appreciated the understanding of her co-workers, which included a pregnant producer. “They were really eager to make me comfortable, and I think we ended on a good note.”
This isn’t the first time a contestant has left under interesting circumstances. In Season 4, Mickey Rourke also chose to unmask himself instead of waiting to be eliminated.
The episode kicked off with a celebration of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, featuring panelist Ken Jeong singing the iconic theme song, adding a nostalgic touch to the event.
Among the characters continuing in the competition are Galaxy Girl, Stingray, and Cat Witch. Meanwhile, Claudia joins other unmasked contestants like Taraji P. Henson and Tiffany Haddish from this season.
New changes for Season 14 include “America’s Insider,” with Kylie Cantrall providing behind-the-scenes insights dressed as Cat Witch. This adds a unique layer of intrigue since the audience knows her identity, but the panelists do not.
Fans can expect themed episodes inspired by “Star Trek,” “Clueless,” and even tributes to Osbourne, creating a varied and exciting viewing experience.
The show continues to gain popularity, blending music, mystery, and fun, with a roster of contestants whose collective achievements include 94 million record sales and numerous awards.
As “The Masked Singer” evolves, it still keeps the essence of surprise and entertainment alive, with a delightful mix of celebrities and creativity.
