The Fruit Logistica Innovation Awards (FLIA) were held at the 2025 Fruit Logistica event. Visitors to this major trade show for fresh produce voted on the year’s top innovations. The prized FLIA went to the Onix orange by AmFresh, a fruit known for its beauty, versatility, and toughness. The Technology award was given to Fermata for Croptimus, a clever imaging tool that helps detect pests and diseases in greenhouses early on.
Visitors eagerly awaited the winners. Five nominated companies showcased their innovations, which were then assessed through a public vote. The winning products stood out with their groundbreaking features, setting new benchmarks for the fruit and vegetable market.
Onix Orange Wins Big
Fruit Logistica attendees had two days to cast their votes. The Onix orange captured a significant portion of the votes and took home the 2025 FLIA. This remarkable orange dazzles with colors ranging from bright orange to rich burgundy. Its juicy flesh is packed with flavor and nutrients. Grown in Spain, the Onix boasts a long shelf life. While the innovation originates from Germany, AmFresh Spain Citrus markets this fruit as a “sustainable citrus wonder” for exquisite tastes.
Patricia Sagarminaga, Global Director of Marketing and Communications at Amfresh Group, expressed her excitement: “This is fantastic! We have this amazing fruit from the sunny orchards of Spain, and sharing that with the world is a wonderful opportunity. Winning this award is an incredible recognition for everyone involved.”
Croptimus Takes Home the Tech Award
Croptimus™ from Fermata Technology earned more than half of the votes for the FLIA Technology Award. This image analysis system helps farmers quickly spot diseases and pest problems in greenhouses. As a software service, Croptimus doesn’t require extra hardware—just existing cameras or even smartphone images. The innovation, hailing from Israel, claims to reduce scouting time by 50%, cut crop loss by 30%, and lower input use by 25%, making it a sustainable choice for farmers.
Valeria Kogan, Founder and CEO of Fermata, shared her joy about winning the FLIA Technology: “I feel amazing. This is my first time at Fruit Logistica, and I’m thrilled by the scale and quality of the event. Being recognized here is a true honor for us.”
