The CR450 is incredibly fast. During tests, it reached speeds of 280 mph, significantly higher than the previous model, the CR400, which maxes out at 217 mph. The CR450’s design decreases operational resistance by 22% and trims the weight by 10% through the use of advanced materials like carbon fiber composites and magnesium alloys.

Equipped with more than 4,000 sensors, the CR450 gathers real-time data on various performance metrics, such as axle temperature and pressure. This technology not only boosts safety but also helps the train adapt to different situations on the fly.

Comfort is a key feature of the CR450. Noise reduction technologies make the interior quieter compared to earlier models, reducing noise levels by two decibels. Safety features are robust as well. The CR450 has a quick braking response time of about 1.7 seconds, allowing it to stop from high speeds effectively. An over-the-horizon system aids in recognizing potential emergencies early on.

Looking ahead, the China State Railway Group plans extensive testing before the CR450 enters commercial service. This development will integrate the train into China’s already impressive high-speed rail network, which spans over 24,855 miles.
