Qualcomm has just introduced its newest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This is a key component for upcoming Android flagship devices. As for the Hexagon NPU, it reportedly runs 37% faster than its predecessor, and saves power at the same time. This could pave the way for AI that adapts more to individual user habits.

On the camera front, Qualcomm has enhanced its image signal processor (ISP) to support advanced video features. With the new computational video pipeline, users can expect AI improvements in video quality, like better autofocus and exposure adjustments. Qualcomm’s Alex Katouzian pointed out that these features work on a frame-by-frame basis.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 also includes the X85 modem, which reduces gaming latency by 50%. This is achieved with AI-enhanced Wi-Fi, making for a smoother gaming experience.
