Exciting changes are coming with the iPhone 17 series! New CAD images suggest that some models will feature a fresh camera design. If you’re not keen on a camera bar reminiscent of the Google Pixel, you might want to brace yourself.

Well-known leaker Sonny Dickson recently shared CAD images, noting that the designs seem quite consistent across sources.
The first image shows what many are calling the iPhone 17 Air. This model is expected to be thinner and lighter, potentially taking the place of the Plus version. It features a longer horizontal camera module across the back, which aligns with earlier rumors.
Because of its slim profile, the iPhone 17 Air may only include a single-lens rear camera. This could limit its capabilities for spatial videos and photos, unless Apple has new technology to address this. It is rumored to feature the same 48-megapixel Wide camera seen in the iPhone 16.
Additionally, some iPhone 17 models might showcase a smoother edge where the camera bump meets the back, thanks to a new glass-and-metal merging technique. This design tweak is evident in the CAD images.
The next images showcase the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Here, the design undergoes the most noticeable change. Apple is ditching the square camera bump for a wider aluminum camera bar that extends across the device.
The triple-lens array will still sit on the left, while the flash, LiDAR sensor, and rear microphone now align vertically on the right side of the bump. Whether this new layout serves purely aesthetic purposes or has functional benefits remains to be seen.
The final image depicts the standard iPhone 17, which is more in line with what many users expect. It seems Apple is sticking with the classic dual-camera system for this base model, which could be a relief for those who may not fancy the new camera bar design.
These camera designs for the iPhone 17 series have come from multiple sources, adding credibility to the rumors. We can expect the new lineup to launch around mid-September, which is the usual release period for Apple.
