We’ve Got It Good in Texas

Texas is known for its cheesy Tex-Mex, and I’ve made it my mission to try authentic Mexican food in both Texas and California. I have to admit, California does have its charm with the coastal flavors that reflect Mexico’s rich cuisine.

A Word of Caution

Heads up if you’re planning to move. Even if you buy the same ingredients elsewhere, your tacos will not taste the same as those made in Texas. The flavors and quality can vary greatly, leading to a meal that falls short of your expectations.

Wisconsin’s Mexican Scene

I recently read an article declaring a Wisconsin Mexican restaurant as one of the best in America. I question that claim. Great restaurants exist, but I doubt any could outshine the numerous options I have just a short walk away.

What’s Going On?

This particular restaurant even has a vegan section on their menu. Around here, “vegan” is often treated like a quirky fad. The breakfast menu includes pancakes, and they fill many burritos with “Pork Pibil,” which is a type of Yucatán-style barbecue pork. While I respect the people behind this restaurant, their menu seems a bit out of place for true Mexican food lovers.

Enjoy the Variety

In Texas, we’re surrounded by a wealth of Mexican restaurants. Seriously, try them all! Even the less impressive places in Texas can surpass the best options in many other regions.

So, dive into the local dining scene and experience what Texas has to offer. You might just find your new favorite spot!
