One of the big draws for us was its closeness to Paultons Park, home to Peppa Pig World, just a 25-minute drive away. But there’s much more in this region. The stunning New Forest, with its 220 square miles of woodland, heathland, and roaming New Forest ponies, is right at your doorstep. Plus, Southampton and Portsmouth offer shopping, dining, museums, and rich history, both just 20 miles away.
Solent Hotel and Spa boasts 117 family-friendly rooms and a newly renovated spa. As you approach, the red-brick building may seem ordinary, but step inside, and you’ll find a welcoming atmosphere. The grand atrium sets a cozy, country-hotel vibe, and the staff are incredibly helpful, making check-in a breeze.
Our family suite was spacious and stylish, complete with modern amenities. Soft blue tones and charming decor made it feel like home. The kids even received mini robes and a goodie bag upon arrival, which added a special touch.
Dining at the hotel is a treat. The FYR restaurant offers a relaxed setting where families can enjoy a variety of dishes. I found plenty of pescatarian options, from tempura prawns to a delicious Thai red vegetable curry. The DIY pancake machine at breakfast was a favorite for the kids!
The highlight of our stay was definitely the spa. Newly opened in 2025, it features a large indoor pool, a Jacuzzi, and a sauna. The atmosphere was perfect for unwinding after a busy day. I even had the chance to enjoy a soothing Temple Spa massage, which was just what I needed to de-stress.
Overall, Solent Hotel and Spa is an excellent base for exploring southern England or simply relaxing. Families will love all the thoughtful details designed to make their stay enjoyable. With everything from fun activities to a fantastic onsite spa, it’s a wonderful choice for a weekend getaway.
