Founder Saira Begum Mir emphasizes the importance of their work, saying, “Many people rely on us to survive.” With rising costs for utilities, more and more families are struggling to get by. Food banks like Pl84U Al Suffa provide a crucial lifeline for those in need, offering one of the few ways for families to secure free food.

This food bank has been operating since 2020, and the number of users has increased significantly. Recent surveys indicate that about 10 million people in the UK experienced food insecurity in 2022, a sharp rise from previous years. Many say they can no longer afford groceries due to skyrocketing prices.

One user shared, “Supermarket prices are just too high. I come here to save money for bills.” Another added how being a full-time carer makes it hard to cover expenses. She appreciates the food bank as a valuable supplement to her regular shopping.
