Urgent Recall: Millions of Thermos Food and Beverage Bottles with Defective Stoppers – What You Need to Know!

Thermos is recalling over 8 million of its insulated food jars and beverage bottles due to safety concerns. The recall affects 5.8 million Stainless King food jars and about 2.3 million Sportsman bottles.

The issue? Gas can build up inside these containers, causing the lids to pop off forcefully. This has led to 27 reports of injuries among users, including cases where individuals were struck by the lid stopper. Some of these injuries were serious enough to require medical attention, with three consumers even suffering permanent vision loss.

These bottles and jars have been sold at major retailers like Target and Walmart, along with various online stores, since March 2008. Prices were generally around $30.

If you have one of these products, stop using it immediately. Thermos will provide a free replacement stopper or a new bottle, depending on the model. For certain jars, consumers need to send a photo of the stopper before discarding it.

Experts emphasize the importance of safety recalls, especially for household items like these. According to a recent report from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, recalls in 2022 alone helped prevent thousands of injuries.

To learn more about the recall or to claim your replacement, check out Thermos’s website or contact their customer support.
