Operational Context:
Ukraine is facing severe challenges as ongoing attacks disrupt civilian life. Health facilities, including hospitals and clinics, are often targeted. This puts both patients and healthcare workers in danger, adding extra stress to a health system already overwhelmed by war.
Recently, a missile strike in Odesa left 90,000 people without power and heating. In February alone, there were 107 attacks involving missiles and drones in various regions.
These hostilities are directly hurting healthcare services. On February 2, a drone hit an ambulance in Kherson. Just a week later, an aerial bomb struck a medical clinic in Kramatorsk. Another attack in Odesa damaged a children’s clinic, although no casualties were reported since it happened at night. Unfortunately, in the Kherson region, a drone attack injured eight healthcare workers.
Since the start of 2025, the WHO’s Health Cluster confirmed 60 attacks on healthcare. In February, three individuals from the medical community lost their lives due to these assaults.
Key Events:
On February 9, 17, and 20, emergency teams from the Health Cluster partner CADUS helped transport four injured individuals in the Donetsk region to healthcare facilities for urgent treatment.
On February 19, an attack in Odesa resulted in injuries to four civilians, including a child. In response, the Health Cluster partner Your City mobilized an outreach medical team offering essential medical care, diagnostics, and psychological support. They reached 67 individuals impacted by the attack, with four referred to a mental health support center and 15 others needing further medical care.
By February 27, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society coordinated with the Health Department to provide first aid to one person and psychosocial support to 25 affected by an attack in Zaporizhzhia.
