Since his debut on the “Holiday Baking Championship” in 2015, Diaz has made quite a name for himself on the Food Network. He has participated in several shows, including winning “Bake You Rich” in 2019.

Diaz runs Fillings & Emulsions in Salt Lake City, where he blends Latin flavors with French pastry techniques. His bright macarons and stunning fruit desserts speak volumes about his creativity. In a recent interview, he shared how the shows have opened doors for new friendships and visibility in the culinary world.

Now, he’s back on TV with “The Ultimate Baking Championship.” This series, featuring 16 of the nation’s top pastry chefs, showcases incredible talent, each competing for a $50,000 prize. Betsy Ayala, head of food content for Warner Bros. Discovery, describes these chefs as “true artists,” creating desserts that are both beautiful and delicious.

Diaz’s love for baking began in his childhood in Cuba, where he mastered the art using just a pressure cooker—imagine baking cakes and eclairs without an oven! He emigrated to the U.S. in 2000, eventually opening his bakery after years of experience in various roles. His patience paid off; he became the American Culinary Federation’s Pastry Chef of the Year in 2012.

With his recent James Beard nomination, Diaz showcases not just his skills but also the diverse food culture of Utah. “I love sharing what we do here,” he said. “This community has welcomed me, and I hope to inspire others along the way.”
