On Wednesday, football players from Utah State University, Southern Utah University, and Brigham Young University donated an impressive 35,000 pounds of pork to the Utah Food Bank. This donation, facilitated by the Utah Pork Producers Association and Daily’s Premium Meats, translates to about 140,000 meals for those in need.

Jim Webb, president elect of the UPPA, expressed the organization’s mission: “With this donation, Utah pork farmers aim to offer a meal and a sense of hope to those who need it most.” The pork will help feed families and individuals struggling to put food on the table.

The UPPA isn’t just about distributing food; it plays a vital role in supporting the local pork industry through advocacy and community involvement. They emphasize sustainable practices, making a positive impact both within the industry and beyond.

For the last six years, the UPPA has partnered with the Utah Food Bank, contributing a total of 210,000 pounds of meat, which equals about 840,000 servings. Ginette Bott, the Food Bank’s president and CEO, recognizes the importance of this partnership. “Utah pork has been an incredibly generous partner over the years,” she said. "Today’s donation will make a significant impact in the homes of many across the state."
