AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 3 Texas Longhorns cruised to a commanding 14-0 victory over UTRGV on Tuesday night. This win marks their third run-rule triumph in just eight games, showcasing their early dominance.
Texas (8-0) scored in five of their six innings. The highlight came in the sixth, where they racked up six runs. What’s impressive is that they managed to score seven of their first eight runs with two outs. The team was 7-for-13 in clutch situations, proving their ability to seize the moment.
Aiden Robbins was a standout, collecting three hits and driving in three runs. He hit a solo homer in the first inning and followed it up with run-scoring singles in the fourth and sixth innings. Other notable performances included Casey Borba, Temo Becerra, and Andrew Ermis, who each had multiple hits.
The scoring started early, with Robbins kicking things off. After his first homer’s echo, Ermis and Ethan Mendoza delivered back-to-back singles, bringing in two more runs. By the fourth inning, Robbins and Ermis added two more. Carson Tinney capped off the fourth with an impressive 445-foot home run that sailed over the center field wall.
In total, the Longhorns sent 10 batters to the plate in a multitude of innings, with five total runs coming from Robbins, Becerra, Anthony Pack Jr., and Presley Courville, all collaborating in a strong finish.
On the pitching front, Texas achieved its second straight shutout, extending their scoreless streak to 22 1/3 innings. Right-hander Sam Cozart, in his debut, tossed four innings allowing just one hit and striking out eight batters. Relievers Cal Higgins, Hudson Hamilton, Jason Flores, and Ethan Walker combined to limit UTRGV to only two more hits.
As they wrap up their homestand, Texas is set to travel to Houston for the upcoming 2026 BRUCE BOLT College Classic. Their first matchup is against No. 9 Coastal Carolina, an exciting matchup that will test their mettle further.
