The University of West Alabama has appointed Dr. Amy H. Jones as its new provost, a key role that oversees all academic activities at the university.

Dr. Jones began her journey at UWA in 2007 as an instructor and has since held various leadership roles, culminating in her recent position as dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Throughout her career, she has actively participated in committees focused on both faculty and student success.
Her educational background includes a doctorate in communication and information science from The University of Alabama, a Master of Science in sport administration from the University of Louisville, and a Bachelor of Arts in film, theatre, and communication arts from the University of New Orleans.
According to a recent survey by the American Association of Colleges and Universities, effective leadership in academic settings can significantly enhance student outcomes. With her extensive experience and commitment, Dr. Jones is well-prepared to lead UWA into a brighter future.
