The Rescue Train is an animal welfare group based in Los Angeles, celebrating ten years of its “Keep Your Pet” program. This special event will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Religious Science, located at 3281 W 6th St., Los Angeles, CA 90020.

This event is designed to help vulnerable and low-income pet owners in the San Fernando Valley. Attendees can access services like flea treatment and spay/neuter assistance, along with other essential resources.

Pet owners impacted by recent fires are especially invited. They can find useful information, supplies, and pet food at the event, which has a “Love is in the air” theme.

The “Keep Your Pet” program launched on Valentine’s Day in 2015. It helps prevent pets from ending up in shelters by offering support to low-income seniors and homeless pet owners. The program has provided over 20,000 services, including veterinary care, food, and behavior advice.

Lisa Young, Executive Director of The Rescue Train, highlights the program’s importance. She explains, “Many pet owners think surrendering their pets is the only solution during difficult times. However, it’s often a lack of resources, not love, that drives this decision. The Keep Your Pet Project aims to tackle this issue, ensuring families can keep their pets where they truly belong.”
