Indian Railways is stepping up its game by adding more coaches to Vande Bharat trains to accommodate the growing number of passengers. This upgrade affects trains on seven main routes, with plans to expand to more routes soon.

Coach Expansion Plan
In this new plan, four trains will see their coaches double from 8 to 16. Three others will grow from 16 to 20 coaches. Dilip Kumar, the Director of Information and Publicity for the Railway Board, explained that this decision is based on current passenger data and future needs.
The routes with an increase to 20 coaches include:
- Mangaluru Central – Thiruvananthapuram Central
- Secunderabad – Tirupati
- Chennai Egmore – Tirunelveli
And those moving from 8 to 16 coaches are:
- Madurai – Bengaluru Cantt
- Deoghar – Varanasi
- Howrah – Rourkela

Future Plans
More 20-coach Vande Bharat trains are also on the horizon, with a reserve of 16-coach units ready to support these upgrades. Any coaches that become available after these changes will be utilized for new Vande Bharat services.
