The Vande Bharat Sleeper train just completed an impressive trial run, reaching speeds of 180 km/h in the Kota Division. This new semi-high-speed train was developed by BEML using ICF technology and aims to provide faster travel over longer distances. The Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) is conducting these tests.
This second rake of the train is being evaluated until November 17. The testing began on November 2, with earlier assessments conducted along the Mahoba–Khajuraho stretch. Currently, the train is being tested on the Sawai Madhopur–Kota–Nagda route.
Mainly, the RDSO wants to ensure technical efficiency and safety. They monitor stability, braking ability, and the reliability of mechanical and electrical systems. During this trial, the train was operated fully loaded, carrying a total weight of 908 tons, which added real-world conditions to the testing.
A Long Confirmatory Run (LCR) was performed over 50 km between Rohalkhurd and Laban at a maximum speed of 180 km/h. Tests included important safety checks like oscillation and emergency braking on wet tracks.
