Vernon Chamber Ranks in Canada’s Top 10 Fastest Growing Organizations: What It Means for the Community

With over 500 members, the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce has become one of Canada’s fastest-growing chambers. Recently, it was recognized as one of the top 10 by the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada (CCEC).

A 2024 survey showed a significant uptick in chamber membership growth, with 69% of chambers reporting increases, up from 60.8% in 2023. Additionally, the national membership retention rate improved to 92.1%, compared to 88.8% the previous year. This trend highlights a robust community spirit among Canadian businesses.

Becky Davison, president of CCEC, expressed her excitement, saying, “It’s inspiring to see such strong membership retention and growth among chambers.” This reflects a commitment to fostering professional development and networking opportunities, which are essential for business success.

The Vernon Chamber ranked 10th in the national list, surrounded by other notable chambers across Canada. Ontario’s Guelph chamber came in 9th, while the Sarnia Lambton chamber topped the list.

Dan Proulx, general manager of the Vernon Chamber, emphasized the importance of their supportive community. He remarked that this achievement underscores the dedication of their board and staff, who work tirelessly to advocate for business-friendly policies. Their goal is to help local businesses thrive.

Experts note that chambers of commerce play a vital role in strengthening local economies. They not only create opportunities for businesses to connect but also influence local governments. In many ways, these chambers serve as the voice of the business community.

In terms of social trends, many business owners have taken to platforms like LinkedIn to express their pride in being part of such active chambers. Social media discussions often revolve around networking events, shared resources, and local sponsorships, further reinforcing the idea that strong business networks lead to community success.

For those looking to understand more about chambers and their impact, exploring reports from the CCEC or local business news can provide additional insights. The work continues as chambers aim to build environments that nurture growth and innovation.
