Hyderabad: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar recently addressed students at IIT, Hyderabad, discussing the importance of India’s diverse languages. He emphasized that rather than fostering conflict over language, we should celebrate and nurture every Indian language.

Speaking on this topic, he noted that India boasts a rich tapestry of languages. In parliament, for instance, discussions happen in 22 languages thanks to simultaneous translation. This shows our commitment to inclusivity, reflecting India’s civilizational ethos.
Dhankhar expressed concern over emerging confrontational attitudes towards language. He marked the recent recognition of certain languages as classical as a proud moment for the country. “Our languages are a treasure trove of literature and wisdom,” he said, urging the youth to take an active role in promoting and preserving them.
He encouraged students to use social media responsibly, acting as watchdogs against any shifts away from national unity. Dhankhar pointed out that some narratives, often fueled by external interests, aim to harm the country. To counter this, he called on businesses to invest more in research, development, and innovation.
The Vice President acknowledged the need for Indian corporates to step up their game. “Investing in research is crucial,” he stated. “This isn’t just about benefiting students; it’s for the future of our nation.” He urged companies to look at their global counterparts and strive to compete with them.
He highlighted the changing dynamics of global power, stating that traditional warfare has shifted towards diplomacy. “Innovation and research are key to enhancing our influence in soft diplomacy,” Dhankhar said. He appealed to corporations to align their goals with global trends, ensuring India remains a strong player on the international stage.
