Victory Reclaimed: Ottawa University Triumphs Over Keiser with a 34-20 Win!

RIVERSIDE, Mo. – The Ottawa University women’s flag football team celebrated their fifth consecutive NAIA Women’s Flag Football Finals title with a 34-20 victory over Keiser University. This win marks their dominance in the sport, solidifying their place in history.

Tatiana Dos Santos shone bright in the game, setting a school record with 15 receptions. Jukanie Washington earned the MVP title for her stellar performance.

The game kicked off with Ottawa scoring right away on their first drive. Madysen Carrera connected with Jaida Bayron for an eight-yard touchdown pass, giving Ottawa a quick 7-0 lead.

Keiser responded with their own scoring drive, but missed the extra point, leaving the score at 7-6 by the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Ottawa extended their lead when Carrera scored on a one-yard run. After a series of strategic plays, Keiser narrowed the gap to just one point, taking the score to 13-12 before halftime.

As the third quarter began, Ottawa’s defense made a critical interception by Jukanie Washington, setting up another touchdown by Carrera—this time a five-yard pass to Addison Orsborn. Ottawa seemed to gain momentum with a lead of 20-12.

Following another interception by Cynthia Homs, Ottawa capitalized once more with a touchdown from Dos Santos, increasing their lead to 27-12.

Keiser tried to fight back, scoring another touchdown, but Ottawa answered back with another touchdown from Carrera to Orsborn, finalizing the score at 34-20.

The game showcased Ottawa’s defense, which secured four interceptions, highlighting their skill and coordination.

Statistically, Ottawa recorded 256 total yards with 221 through the air and 35 on the ground. In comparison, Keiser managed 308 yards, mostly through passing.

This championship win gave Ottawa a flawless season record of 23-0, marking their fifth NAIA Championship win, as well as five KCAC Tournament and regular-season championships.
