The Minnesota Vikings have made a significant move by trading Pro Bowl edge rusher Jonathan Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles. In return, the Vikings will receive two third-round picks: one in 2026 and another in 2027. They’re also sending a late-round pick in this year’s draft to the Eagles.

Greenard was scheduled to earn $19 million in both 2026 and 2027, but with the Vikings facing a $46.6 million salary-cap crunch, they were unable to meet his desire for a pay raise that would place him among the top ten highest-paid edge rushers.
With Greenard gone, Turner will now take on a more prominent role, especially after impressing last season, finishing with eight sacks when Greenard was sidelined due to shoulder surgery. The Vikings are banking on Turner and their new defensive line additions to keep their defense strong under Flores, who joined the team in 2023.
For the Eagles, this trade is crucial after they lost Jaelan Phillips to the Carolina Panthers, who signed him for four years at $120 million. The Eagles were keen on retaining Phillips and even explored signing Trey Hendrickson but focused instead on mid-level additions like Arnold Ebiketie and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. However, Greenard’s arrival could position him as the top edge rusher on the team.
As the Eagles evaluate their roster, Greenard’s skills fit nicely into Vic Fangio’s defensive scheme.
